Dr.Asokan has completed his M.B.B.S from University of Madras in 1976, completed his M.D in 1981 from the same university. Worked as general Physician in a private hospital for 4 years and later completed his D.M in Neurology (Post Doctoral course) in 1988 from Madurai Kamaraj University.

He was trained by Prof.K.Srinivasan, a pioneer stroke Neurologist in India. His main interest is stroke care and other complications related to stroke. He has a rich experience of 33 years in stroke neurology and related other neurological disorders. Other area of special interest is epilepsy and organizing special epilepsy care for the needy.
He is life a member of Indian Academy of Neurology and Neurological Society of India. He is a full member of American Academy of Neurology and European academy of Neurology. Presented scientific papers in various National and International conferences.
He started department of Neurology at Sri Ramakrishna Hospital in the year 1989. He has seen more than 1.5 lakh patients at the hospital.
